Sprawling Structure Beneath the Sacré Coeur to Host Live Skate Exhibition, DJ set by JUSTICE and Musical Performances by Kaytranada, Busy P and more
Vans is bringing skateboarding to the forefront of global culture, merging skateboarding, design, art and music through a visionary presence in Paris. The week began with a skate jam honoring Anthony Van Engelen’s footwear progression and an exhibition by legendary skate photographer and Vans Brand Curator, Atiba Jefferson. The week now culminates with OTW by Vans returning to Paris Fashion Week Men’s with a major installation beneath the Basilica de Sacré Coeur.
Set on the hill of Montmartre, the OTW by Vans Checkered Future: Sacré Coeur installation will serve as a stage for a joint celebration of Go Skateboarding Day and Fête de la Musique, featuring a live skate exhibition by Vans Team Athletes and musical performances by Kaytranada, Venus X, Busy P and Tatyana Jane, and a headlining DJ set by JUSTICE.
Inspired by the site’s natural beauty, OTW by Vans, along with design partners PLAYLAB, INC. and California Skateparks, marries the aesthetic of the Basilica de Sacré Coeur with Vans’ signature Checkerboard across a two-part installation spanning the Butte Montmartre. The installation features a large-scale skate bowl at the base of the steps and a checkerboard DJ platform at the top of the hill, overlooking Paris.
The installation at Sacré Coeur demonstrates the disruptive approach of OTW by Vans, the most aspirational expression of Vans across product design and consumer experiences. OTW debuted at Paris Fashion Week Men’s in June 2023 on the River Seine and recently launched their collaboration with Sterling Ruby’s S.R.STUDIO. LA. CA. at Frieze Los Angeles. These moments highlight the commitment OTW by Vans continues in curating visionary and aspirational experiences that merge skateboarding with cultural elements, making a lasting impact on the global stage.
“OTW by Vans Checkered Future is an unexpected skate and music takeover at an iconic location blending the energy of Go Skate Day and Fashion Week with the city-wide celebration of Fête de la Musique,” shares Ian Ginoza, Vice President, Creative Director for OTW by Vans. “Here at the highest point in Paris, celebrating music with JUSTICE, Kaytranada and Busy P, with skateboarders from around the world riding this one-of-a-kind experience reaffirms the unexpected approach that OTW takes to celebrate skateboarding.”
OTW by Vans celebration of Go Skateboarding Day and Fête de la Musique will take place this evening beginning 7pm CEST and welcome the Paris skate community and public to join. Admission is available in limited capacity and registration is required for attendance. To register, visit HERE.
