This year has already been one to remember for Vans global team rider Daan Van Der Linden: from landing the front cover of both Thrasher Magazine and Free Skateboard Mag in the same month (out now) to filming for Volcom's Holy Stokes movie. Daan continues his flush with the release of his first signature colourway, available globally from selected skateshops from May 21st. This special make-up of the Style 112 Pro is made with suede uppers, while the UltraCush HD footbed keeps the foot close to the board, providing the highest level of impact cushioning, and the Vans original waffle outsole allows for a firmer grip. Featuring DURACAP upper reinforcement in high-wear areas for unrivalled durability, the Style 112 Pro also includes Vans vulcanised lite construction to deliver the best in board feel, flex and traction. Ahead of the launch, Daan offered a little insight into the shoe; “I am really happy with how it turned out, and even more so as I wanted to include suede throughout. One of the areas I looked at in great detail was the extra toe protection, which I wanted to be complimented by great board feel. In the final outcome, I think we’ve accomplished both”! On Daan’s rise to prominence, Jeroen Sars, founder & owner of 100% Skateshop said,”When I first saw Daan skate he made a big impression. The control and style for a young kid who had been on a skateboard for such a short time was remarkable. Through the years I've seen him grow to become an amazing skateboarder across all terrain, curbs, stairs, rails, transitions, he kills it all and makes it look good at the same time. That's why Daan already is or will soon be your favourite skater to watch. There’s never a dull moment with Daan”! Daan Van Der Linden’s Style 112 Pro colourway is available in Europe from the 21st May & across the US in selected skate shops from 1st June. See more at Vans.com. Vans continues its year-long celebration of 50 incredible years of “Off The Wall” heritage and introduces a lookbook that exemplifies the unique styling of one of its Classic footwear models, the Old Skool. For spring 2016, Vans partners with skate team rider Elijah Berle and front woman Clementine Creevy alongside her band Cherry Glazerr, to present an assortment of new color offerings of the Vans Old Skool.
Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, commemorates 50 years of heritage and progression with the debut of the Vans Pro Classics Anniversary Collection, available worldwide on March 16. The most iconic footwear silhouettes from Vans’ history return to the spotlight, enhanced with innovative performance features that provide upgraded cushioning and durability exclusively designed for skateboarding.
With decades of proven performance evolution supported by an illustrious team of skateboarding icons and future legends of the sport, the
Pro Classics Anniversary Collection is modernized with Vans’ Pro Skate performance technology, featuring supportive ULTRACUSH HD sockliners for resilient cushioning and advanced comfort, and DURACAP reinforced underlays in high abrasion areas for premium durability and consistent fit. Embodying a slimmer shape for a closer fit in the heel, arch and forefoot, Vans Pro Classics are engineered to withstand the everyday wear and tear of modern skateboarding. Anecdoted by its original year of release, each style in the Vans Pro Classics Anniversary Collection pays homage to influential cultural milestones from Vans’ groundbreaking era of 1966-2000. What began as simple renovations in color, fabric and shape bolstered true connections with action sports icons such as original Dogtown Z-boy Stacy Peralta, celebrated surfer Duke Kahanamoku, and Vans’ skateboarding legend Christian Hosoi. Whether it was taking the Hawaiian shirt off Duke’s back to design a custom pair of floral Authentics, or padding the collar in the original Era to create the first “Off The Wall” shoe in skateboarding, Vans has championed reinvention since 1966, paving the way in design progression to meet the critical demands of skateboarding today. Anchored this spring by model favorites such as the Era Pro, Checkerboard Slip-On Pro, and Authentic Pro, the Vans Pro Classics Anniversary Collection releases worldwide March 16, with forthcoming installments later this year. In Concrete Waves we aim to show how YOW can redefine the phrase "surfing the streets" by taking it into the dense urban neighborhoods of San Francisco. From there we begin to see how the YOW truck system transforms sidewalks, driveways, and streets into endless waves. On a YOW, you are able to connect long flowy lines and reach the tight pockets you couldn't before. Local skater Quentin Gachot shows us this as he blasts down sidewalks and banks adapting surfing moves and turning his normal routes into shreddable waves. "Even people who have never surfed before can now replicate surfing and practice it without the need of an ocean. The YOW emulates surfing so you use the same body movements and style while riding it". Tom Flinchbaugh, Skater, Surfer, YOW Filmer Quentin's surf style accompanied with the board's liquid like movements, against the backdrop of the city, really shows how YOW can re-create surfing in a concrete jungle. Enjoy Concrete Waves and go out and create Your Own Wave!

Style, 7’s and Sunsets: Lucas Baume emerges victorious after a celebration of style in snowboarding
Everything came together at just the right time for the Vans Hi-Standard in Chamrousse, France. Local shredders and renowned european riders were joined by ideal weather conditions for a perfect celebration of creativity in snowboarding.
The Vans team were out in force with the likes of Will Smith, Rowan Coultas and Dusan Kritz all joined an incredibly talented roster of athletes. After a full day of mind-blowing creativity and style it was Lucas Baume (Swi), Juan Cachal (Fra), Kevin Trammer (Bel) and Lucie Sylvestre (Fra) that rode out victorious.
The format of the contest was clear; No spins more than 720 and judges are specifically looking for style. If anyone knows about style in snowboarding, it was this year’s judges: Arthur Longo teamed up with Anton Holland and Pacome Allouis to gauge who should be crowned champion throughout the day. The standard of riding was as high as has been seen in the Vans Hi-Standard and so 5’s and 7’s were seen everywhere, but the winners were those that made them their own in terms of individual style. It was here that Lucas Baume put himself out in front; the array of tricks he landed and his trademark style defined everything the Vans Hi-Standard is all about. Juan Cachal earned the biggest roar from the crowd and second place with a text book double backflip.
Kevin Trammer continually set himself apart as one of the most stylish riders and came away with third overall but also recognised as the best rail rider with an effortless switch nose press that made the crowd erupt with appreciation. The French Alps were taken by surprise by the level of rail riding coming out of the UK as the fridge kids from the UK continually destroyed the rail with a level of technicality and consistency the local crowd were not ready for. Progression comes at a price and it doesn’t always go to plan. We need to celebrate those that are pushing the boundaries and today the biggest slam award went to Nathan Benichou who was rewarded for his brutal late front flip attempt. The women’s contest was a fierce battle that pushes the athletes
to think outside of the box and left the judges impressed with moments of great style and progressive riding. In the end it was too close to call and it was decided that Lucie Sylvester and France Kitty should share top spot. Chamrousse prove to be an incredible venue for the Vans Hi-Standard’s european stop, with the riders boosting amidst incredible views over Grenoble and the finals taking place against the backdrop of a truly breathtaking sunset over the french alps. After a long day, the crowds moved to prize giving and the requisite partying which took place at La Cheminée. Special mention must be made to the resort of Chamrousse, the shapers, the incredible field of athletes and the crowds that came out to celebrate an incredible event and a celebration of the best style in snowboarding. 2016 Vans Hi-Standard Results Men’s Overall 1) Lucas Baume (Swi) 2) Juan Cachal (Fr) 3) Kevin Trammer (Bel) Women’s overall Joint first - Lucie Sylvestre (FR) France Kitty (FR) Best slam - Nathan Benichou Best rail - Kevin Trammer #VansHiStandard
